Biography

Based between Malta and London, Matt Thompson’s photographic vision is shaped by a fascination of the body, a curiosity in the human condition and a deep interest in capturing the essence that defines us individually.

A graduate of the London College of Communication, Thompson’s connection with photography as a creative medium expresses his desire to go beyond a literal interpretation of the subject, inviting the viewer to reflect upon the context of the moment captured.

Thompson’s work has been commissioned and published by The Guardian, The Economist and The Sunday Times. His clients include E.ON, Etsy & UNICEF.

He is a winner of the British Journal of Photography’s Open Walls 2020 prize, exhibited at Galerie Huit Arles in France.

Thompson’s last personal project, ‘Helen’s Story’, redressed the widespread misconceptions about epilepsy and was featured as a cover story in the Observer New Review & The Guardian online.
